Setup and ownership

Operate and store a cordless blower safely

A cordless leaf blower needs less routine engine service than a gas machine, but it still has a moving-air hazard, a battery system and attachments that must be installed and removed correctly. The instructions for the exact tool take priority; this guide draws on the reviewed EGO LB6150, LB6500, LB6700, LB7650 and LB8800 family manuals.

Prepare the work area and yourself

Wear eye protection with side shields and use hearing protection when appropriate, especially during extended operation. The EGO manuals warn about flying debris, dust, loose clothing and hair near the air intake. Keep bystanders, children and pets at least 50 feet away. Check the work area and remove loose objects that could be picked up or thrown. Do not point the blower tube at people or animals, and do not operate from a ladder, roof or other unstable support. Keep firm footing and avoid reaching too far while the tool is running.

Do not use a blower near a fire or hot ashes; airflow can spread embers. The manuals also warn against using the blower to spread chemicals, fertilizers or toxic substances. Blowing gravel or sand from an intake surface can send debris toward the user or a bystander. Aim airflow deliberately, keep the tube installed, and choose a lower setting near loose material.

Assemble and change attachments safely

Before installing a tube, nozzle or accessory, remove the battery and follow the manual’s assembly steps. Confirm that the latch is engaged and the tube is secure before inserting a battery. Stop the blower and remove the pack before changing a nozzle or clearing a blockage. The LB7650 and LB8800 manuals list different parts and display controls, so use the manual matching the product family rather than relying on an image or a third-party summary.

Use only attachments that the manufacturer lists as compatible with the exact model. A spread, tapered or flat nozzle changes how the air is directed. Do not assume an accessory shown in a product-family photo comes in the kit. Inspect the tool before each use for loose or missing parts, damaged housing or a blocked intake.

Battery, cleaning and storage

Charge the battery indoors and use a charger listed by EGO for the battery. Do not handle charger terminals with wet hands. Remove the pack before service, cleaning or storage; do not leave the blower unattended with a battery installed. Keep the housing dry and clean with a cloth, and avoid solvents or petroleum-based products that may damage plastic. Clear foreign material from air intakes and let the unit cool before storage.

The EGO manuals call for indoor, dry storage away from children, corrosive materials, garden chemicals and de-icing salts. Keep the battery away from fire and excessive temperature. If the blower is damaged, has been dropped or does not operate normally, stop using it and contact qualified service rather than opening or modifying the unit. Follow local battery recycling instructions when a pack reaches end of life.

The IPX4 rating found on the reviewed EGO models describes splash resistance; it does not replace charging and storage instructions. A weather-resistance label is not permission to charge outdoors, submerge a battery or store the tool in damp conditions. Keep the current exact operator manual with the machine, especially if you loan it to another operator. The model reviews link the official manual for each family.
