Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Will the bare LV5000 package collect and mulch leaves into a bag as well as blow?
Yes. EGO’s LV5000 product-page variant is the vacuum/mulcher tool-only configuration of the same 500 CFM blower tool, with the 40 L collection bag listed for the shared assembly.
Explore this need in the finder →Can an existing EGO 56V owner choose the vacuum/mulcher with no battery or charger included?
The exact page identifies the LV5000 configuration as “Leaf Vacuum & Mulcher Only” with battery and charger not included. The manual lists compatible EGO packs and chargers, which still must be purchased or owned separately.
Explore this need in the finder →Does tool-only LV5000 meet a requirement for exactly one included battery?
No. EGO marks the LV5000 configuration battery not included. That is different from the LV5005 kit, which lists a single 6.0 Ah battery and charger.
Explore this need in the finder →The tool-only version of EGO’s leaf vacuum and mulcher
The LV5000 is the bare-tool configuration of EGO’s 56V handheld leaf vacuum, mulcher and 500 CFM blower. It is not a blower body with an optional bag: EGO’s exact LV5005 product page lists the LV5000 as “Leaf Vacuum & Mulcher Only,” with both battery and charger marked not included. The 2026 US catalogue repeats that package distinction. The common tool provides the blower tube, tapered nozzle, vacuum assembly, 40 L collection bag and shoulder strap; the main purchase decision is whether to add the separate power equipment yourself or buy the LV5005 kit. The product page marked both variants “Coming Soon” when checked, so this review does not imply current stock.
That tool-only route can make sense for an existing EGO 56V owner who already has an appropriate battery and charger, but only after checking compatibility and condition. The LV5000-family manual lists compatible EGO battery packs and chargers and requires the battery to be removed before assembly changes, cleaning or service. If you do not own a compatible pack, the bare LV5000 is not a ready-to-run blower-vacuum. Compare its cost with the LV5005 rather than assuming that a tool-only package is the less expensive complete setup.
Vacuum, mulch and blower are separate setups
The tool changes between two jobs by swapping the blower and vacuum assemblies. In collection mode, a broad metal-tipped suction tube guides leaves through six metal tines into the zippered 40 L bag. EGO claims a 16:1 reduction ratio, but actual packing depends on the material; it is not a fixed volume promise for wet, mixed or unusually dense yard waste. Empty the bag before it fills and close the zipper completely before use.
Do not treat the vacuum as a general debris or liquid extractor. EGO’s manual allows collection of wet leaves from the ground but says not to vacuum water, and warns against stones, gravel, metals, broken glass, large wood fragments, plastic bags and cloth that could jam or damage the machine. These limits make it a more deliberate choice than blowing leaves into a pile: debris has to be suitable for the intake and the bag has to be emptied as work proceeds. If most of your cleanup is pushing leaves from a driveway, a dedicated handheld blower such as the LB5302 may be easier to store and use.
In blower mode the manual lists up to 500 CFM, 160 mph with the blower tube alone and 210 mph with the tapered nozzle, plus 15 N maximum blowing force. The rotary speed dial, trigger and lock-on setting give more control than a single fixed output, though the published figures are still maxima and do not predict how quickly a particular yard will clear. The LV5000 can move between vacuuming and blowing, but those are alternative operating setups rather than simultaneous functions.
Budget for the battery and the vacuum assembly
Because this SKU includes no battery or charger, its included battery count is zero; its capacity and charge time are not package facts. The LV5005 sibling includes a 6.0 Ah ARC Lithium battery and 320 W charger, and EGO advertises up to 90 minutes on low for that configuration. Do not transfer that runtime claim to the LV5000 without stating the battery and output setting, or assume it describes vacuum use. A bigger compatible pack may help with a longer routine, but battery mass adds to what the operator carries.
The manual’s weight table lists 9.25 lb in blower configuration and 13.45 lb in vacuum configuration, without the battery pack and nozzle. Those different mode figures make the vacuum’s handling load a material consideration; the full operating mass with the battery and fittings is not published in the sources checked. The included shoulder strap and front auxiliary handle provide support points, but shoppers with an essential carried-weight limit should not treat the bare-mode figures as complete weights.
The product page’s weather statement also needs context. It advertises IPX5, whereas the linked LV5000/LV5000-FC manual specifies IPX4 for the machine-and-battery system. Since the documents conflict, do not rely on the higher rating as permission to work in rain. The page lists a five-year limited tool warranty and three-year battery coverage, but there is no battery in this tool-only box; warranty terms and eligible purchase conditions still apply.
Choose the LV5000 if leaf collection and mulching are important, you already have compatible EGO power equipment, and you are willing to manage the heavier vacuum setup and bag-emptying routine. Choose the LV5005 if you want the same function with battery and charger in the box. For clearing-only work, a blower-only package avoids the vacuum parts. Use the finder to require a true bagging and mulching function, distinguish tool-only from battery kits, and treat the 500 CFM figure as one spec—not a yard-size guarantee.
