A useful fit for

A technical-reference handheld for a user who specifically wants STIHL Easy2Start, gasoline power and two nozzle choices, and accepts mixed-fuel ownership; not a purchase match while exact safety status is unresolved.

The main tradeoff

Easy2Start changes the recoil-pull routine, not the published blower output: the C-E version weighs 9.9 lb dry versus 9.7 lb for BG 86, with the same 14.9-ounce tank and chart airflow. Exact CPSC status remains unestablished.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

If Easy2Start is why you are considering the BG 86 C-E, can you meet the job with a battery handheld if the recoil system itself is not essential?

The EGO LB8803-2 is a battery handheld with a published 880-CFM maximum and 30 N. It avoids a recoil-start routine, but does not have STIHL Easy2Start and is not a like-for-like engine or nozzle test.

If you need to collect leaves rather than blow them into a pile, is the C-E package a bagged vacuum kit?

No. The C-E SKU is a blower package. STIHL identifies an optional Vacuum Kit compatible with the BG 86 C-E, but it is not included; the EGO LV5000/LV5005 are current reviewed bagged-collection alternatives with their own battery-package distinctions.

If a 9.9-lb body is too heavy and Easy2Start is not essential, can a lighter-body battery handheld still meet a high-force requirement?

The EGO LB8803-2 is a current handheld battery blower with a 5.8-lb bare-tool figure and 30 N. Its battery increases assembled weight, and the comparison does not show that it reproduces the BG 86 C-E’s starter system or a field result.

Choose this version for Easy2Start, not a different output class

The STIHL BG 86 C-E is the Easy2Start version of STIHL’s BG 86 handheld gasoline blower. The exact US part number selected on the current US product page is 42410111764US. This is still a handheld, two-stroke blower with round and flat nozzles; the “C-E” distinction is important because STIHL’s blower FAQ explains that the C marks a comfort feature and that, on this blower, it is Easy2Start. STIHL says this system uses a long, slow pull rather than the brisk pull used on a non-Easy2Start version. That changes the starting routine, not the amount of air the published comparison chart says it moves.

Easy2Start changes the pull, not the power class

The manufacturer lists a 27.2 cc engine, 0.8 kW output, 15 N of blowing force, a 14.9-ounce fuel tank, and a 9.9-pound dry body weight. The product page uses “without refuelling” for the 9.9-pound figure; the manual and comparison chart identify the C version at 9.9 pounds. Fuel adds weight, so this is not the weight in hand with a full tank. The mixed-fuel setup is also a real ownership constraint: STIHL’s US family manual specifies a 50:1 gasoline-and-two-stroke-oil mixture, minimum 89 AKI gasoline, and no more than 10% ethanol. The primer, choke, and start sequence still need to be followed; Easy2Start is not electric ignition or push-button starting.

The reason to choose C-E over the standard BG 86 is therefore ergonomic and procedural. If repeated recoil pulls are a concern, or the blower will be started and stopped throughout a cleanup, the steady-pull starter may be worth considering. If your yard is cleared in one short session and you already accept a conventional gas starting routine, the standard BG 86 has the lighter published body figure and the same headline force and nozzle configuration. The 0.2-pound catalogue difference is small on paper but does not prove which handle will feel better for a particular person.

Separate nozzle ratings and the manual’s no-nozzle figure

Do not read the performance data as one universal air-speed number. STIHL’s 2025 comparison chart gives 444 CFM and 154 mph for the round nozzle, and 365 CFM and 190 mph for the flat nozzle. The instruction manual lists 477 CFM without a nozzle and distinguishes the round- and flat-nozzle speeds the same way. The current exact product page instead lists 170 mph at the round nozzle. That is a manufacturer-source conflict for round-nozzle velocity; this assessment preserves both bases rather than inventing a blended score. The current product page and comparison chart agree on 15 N and the product page confirms the exact SKU and 9.9-pound body figure. The 477-CFM value is the no-nozzle manual figure, not the round-nozzle comparison-chart figure.

Choose for a blower-first job, not bag collection

Both nozzle shapes are included. A round tube and a flat nozzle are different ways to direct air, not interchangeable labels for a single result. The published force figure is helpful when comparing blower specifications but is not an independent test of wet leaf movement, clearing speed, or how far debris will travel on a real property. The BG 86 C-E is blower-only as sold. STIHL separately lists a Vacuum Kit as compatible with the BG 86 C-E, but that attachment is not included in the 42410111764US blower configuration. If vacuuming into a bag is essential, compare the complete blower-plus-kit setup and its instructions, or consider a purpose-built blower/vacuum product rather than assuming the standard product page describes a collection package.

The washable HD2 filter and anti-vibration system have practical maintenance and comfort value, especially in dusty work, but they do not turn an engine tool into a low-maintenance battery tool. You still handle mixed fuel, storage, air-filter care, exhaust, and a louder operating environment than a quiet hand tool might suggest. The actual operating weight with fuel is not specified in the sources checked, and tank capacity cannot be translated into yard runtime without a supported consumption figure.

The BG 86 C-E is the stronger fit when the gasoline platform and Easy2Start are both desired, the 9.9-pound body is acceptable, and a blower-first job justifies the two included nozzle options. If you need the standard ElastoStart handle rather than STIHL Easy2Start, compare the ordinary BG 86. If your main requirement is high handheld output and you can accept a battery system, EGO’s LB7654 and LB8803-2 are different, current-reference alternatives with their own battery, nozzle, and body-weight tradeoffs. If long continuous work is the priority, compare a backpack format; if collected leaves matter, use a verified vacuum configuration instead.

This remains a reference assessment, not a purchase recommendation: STIHL states that the BG 86 C-E is not available for purchase or delivery in California, and its exact-model CPSC status has not been established. Current STIHL product data marks the exact listing out of stock online, but stock status can change. The configuration therefore stays out of buying matches until the safety-status bridge is resolved. A gasoline-only or Easy2Start-only filter cannot be used to push an unverified reference into a shortlist; relaxing those requirements can surface eligible battery alternatives, but they are alternatives with different operating plans, not equivalent machines.
