Compare EGO LV5005 and LV5000 vacuum packages
One tool, two power packages
EGO’s LV5005 and LV5000 are package variants of the same 56V leaf vacuum, mulcher and 500 CFM blower. The LV5005 is the kit with one 6.0 Ah battery and a 320 W charger. LV5000 is the tool-only configuration: EGO’s exact product-page table marks both battery and charger “Not Included.” The 2026 US catalogue confirms the same split. EGO’s page marked both options “Coming Soon” when checked, so this comparison does not claim a current retail price or stock status.
The package difference is important, but the physical tool still determines whether either suffix fits. Both include a changeable blower/vacuum setup, a tapered blower nozzle, the 40 L collection bag and a shoulder strap. Both are specified for up to 500 CFM in blower mode, with 210 mph using the tapered nozzle and 15 N maximum blowing force in the linked manual. Both share six metal mulching tines and EGO’s 16:1 advertised reduction ratio. These are different operating modes: use the blower assembly to move leaves or the vacuum assembly to collect suitable debris. They do not run simultaneously.
Choose the kit only when you need its power equipment
LV5005 is the more ready-to-run package for someone starting without a compatible EGO pack and charger. Its included 6.0 Ah battery and 320 W charger add to the initial box contents, and EGO says the kit can run up to 90 minutes on low. Do not treat that maximum as a guaranteed vacuum-mode or mixed-use runtime; the page does not provide a vacuum-mode duration. The battery’s rated capacity is not an actual clearing-time measurement, and repeated high-speed use can change the practical session length.
LV5000 may be the more sensible configuration for an existing EGO 56V owner who already has a battery and charger that meet the exact manual’s compatibility list. It does not include either power component, so it is not a cheaper complete kit by definition. Compare what you would actually need to add rather than assigning a made-up price difference. A battery used for this tool cannot power another tool simultaneously, and the tool-only buyer’s own pack may differ from the 6.0 Ah pack used for the LV5005 page’s runtime claim.
Collection changes handling and waste routine
Both variants use a 40 L bag. That capacity is about 10.6 US gallons, but its usefulness depends on debris and how often you want to empty it. The manual asks the operator to empty before it becomes full, close the zipper and inspect the bag for wear. EGO permits pickup of wet leaves from the ground, but does not permit vacuuming water and warns against collecting stones, gravel, metal, glass, large wood chips, plastic bags or cloth that can jam or damage the tool. If mixed material or hardscape grit is common, a dedicated blower can be a simpler choice.
The LV5000-family manual lists 9.25 lb in blower configuration and 13.45 lb in vacuum configuration, each without the battery and nozzle. The heavier vacuum setup is a meaningful tradeoff for both packages. EGO does not publish the fully assembled operating weight with battery installed, so do not compare the manual figures as complete carry weights. The LV5005’s pack adds weight; LV5000’s final weight depends on the compatible pack you already own.
Resolve the manual discrepancy before wet-weather work
The current product page claims IPX5 weather resistance, but the linked LV5000/LV5000-FC manual specifies IPX4 for the machine and battery system together. The two documents disagree. Neither package choice resolves that mismatch; follow the current instructions and do not interpret a product-page rating as permission to expose the battery or charger to water.
Choose LV5005 if you want the leaf-vacuum/mulcher and a manufacturer-listed battery/charger package. Choose LV5000 if the same functions suit your yard and you already own compatible power equipment. If you mainly want to push debris into a pile, compare a simpler handheld blower instead. Read the LV5005 kit assessment or LV5000 tool-only assessment for the details of each box.
