Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does LV5005 provide both bagged leaf collection and a blower mode in the same package?
Yes. EGO lists the 3-in-1 vacuum, mulcher and blower, plus a 40 L bag; vacuum and blower use separate assemblies.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I require a 40 L bag and a 500 CFM blower in a leaf vacuum/mulcher?
The LV5005 product page lists a 40 L bag and up to 500 CFM blower mode. Both are package/specification claims, not a measured clearing result.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the LV5005 kit supply a 6.0 Ah battery and charger for this vacuum/blower?
The exact EGO page lists one 6.0 Ah ARC Lithium battery and a 320 W charger in the LV5005 configuration. EGO’s up-to-90-minute claim is for low speed, not a guaranteed vacuum-mode duration.
Explore this need in the finder →A complete kit for blowing and collecting leaves
The EGO LV5005 is a 56-volt handheld leaf vacuum, mulcher and blower sold with one 6.0 Ah battery and a 320 W charger. Its unusual value is not simply a 500 CFM blower rating: the same tool can be changed between moving leaves outward and collecting them into a bag. EGO’s exact product page also lists an LV5000 tool-only configuration, so the suffix matters. This assessment is based on EGO’s product information and the linked operator manual, not a hands-on clearing test. The page showed both configurations as “Coming Soon” when checked; that is a recorded listing status, not a claim about stock or delivery.
In the box, the LV5005 page lists the vacuum, battery, charger, vacuum tube, 40 L collection bag, blower tube, tapered nozzle and shoulder strap. The manufacturer’s 2026 US catalogue describes LV5005 as the battery-and-charger package and LV5000 as the same vacuum/mulcher without either. The 6.0 Ah pack can be useful when a session includes repeated switching between modes, but the pack is shared by this one tool; it does not power a separate blower and vacuum at the same time.
Collection is the defining feature
For vacuum mode, the tool draws leaves through a wide-mouth tube with a metal tip, passes them across six metal tines and deposits the shredded material in a zipper bag. EGO advertises a 16:1 mulching ratio and a 40 L bag, or about 10.6 US gallons. That reduction may mean fewer trips to empty yard-waste bags, but it is a manufacturer claim rather than a guarantee that every leaf type will pack down identically. The collection bag is still a finite container: check it often, empty it before it is full and close the zipper completely before starting to keep dust inside.
This is a leaf and light-debris collector, not a general shop vacuum. The manual permits picking up wet leaves from the ground, but warns against vacuuming water, stones, gravel, metal, broken glass, large wood chips, plastic bags or cloth that can tangle inside. Those exclusions matter around gravel paths, mulch beds and areas where litter is mixed into leaves. If you mainly want to push debris toward a curb or pile, a simpler blower avoids the bag and tube changes; consider the LB5302 blower kit instead.
Blower mode and controls
With the blower tube fitted, the LV5005 reaches a published maximum of 500 CFM and 210 mph with the tapered nozzle attached. The linked LV5000-family manual separately lists 160 mph with the plain blower tube and 210 mph with that nozzle, and gives a maximum blowing force of 15 N. These are distinct manufacturer specifications for different outlet setups, not independent measurements of clearing time. The variable-speed rotary dial can hold a chosen setting without continuous trigger pressure; the trigger lets the operator vary output, and the front auxiliary handle supports a two-handed hold.
EGO advertises up to 90 minutes on low with the included 6.0 Ah battery. Treat that as a low-setting ceiling, not a promise of ninety minutes of mixed vacuum and blower work. The page does not state an equivalent vacuum-mode runtime or a high-speed duration. A larger continuous job, wet debris or frequent use of high output can make the published low-setting maximum a poor planning figure. The tool is compatible with EGO 56V ARC Lithium batteries, but a separate compatible battery is not the same as an included spare.
Carrying weight and weather-rating discrepancy
The linked manual lists 9.25 lb for the blower configuration and 13.45 lb for the vacuum configuration, each without the battery pack and nozzle. The vacuum assembly is therefore notably heavier before the included battery is added. EGO supplies a shoulder strap and the manual identifies a front handle, but neither makes the full carried mass disappear. A strict assembled-weight limit cannot be verified from the material checked because EGO does not publish the complete tool-plus-battery-plus-attachments weight.
There is also a specification mismatch worth keeping visible: the current product page describes IPX5 weather resistance, while the linked LV5000/LV5000-FC operator manual describes an IPX4 system rating for machine and battery together. This review does not turn the more favorable figure into a promise of rain use. Follow the latest exact manual and keep the tool, battery and charger out of conditions it does not permit. EGO lists a limited five-year tool warranty and three-year battery warranty, subject to the applicable purchase and use terms.
The LV5005 is most compelling for someone who wants to collect and reduce leaves as well as clear paths, and who is buying into EGO’s battery system without a suitable pack and charger already on hand. Its tradeoffs are the comparatively heavy vacuum configuration, a bag that must be emptied, mode changes that require correct assembly and a runtime claim that applies only to low speed. If you already own a compatible pack and charger, compare the LV5005-versus-LV5000 comparison and the LV5000 tool-only version. If bagged collection is unnecessary, a dedicated blower is a simpler fit. Use the finder to make vacuum function and package contents explicit before comparing published airflow.
