A useful fit for

For an owner who already has a compatible STIHL AS battery and charger and wants the BGA 30’s small-job handheld body without another power kit. It suits light debris on small-to-medium paved areas; its short round and longer flat nozzles give two close-range outlet choices.

The main tradeoff

No battery or charger is in this exact package, so the owner must verify an STIHL AS battery/charger and include the battery’s weight in any lifting decision. The 5-N / 253-CFM body is not a high-output blower and cannot collect or mulch leaves. Exact model safety status remains unresolved; this is a technical reference, not a purchase recommendation.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

If a bagged leaf vacuum is essential but I want a tool-only battery package, does the BGA 30 Unit Only do that job?

No. BGA 30 Unit Only is a 253-CFM blower with no vacuum or bag. The EGO LV5000 is an eligible tool-only battery vacuum/mulcher with a 40-L bag and 500-CFM blower mode, but it uses a different battery system and will not run on STIHL AS packs.

If a supplied flat nozzle and at least 21 N matter, can the BGA 30 Unit Only meet that higher-force need?

No. The BGA 30 is listed at 5 N. The EGO LB6504 is a different-system handheld kit with a supplied flat nozzle and manufacturer-listed 650 CFM / 21 N.

If 21 N and at least 650 CFM are essential in a one-battery handheld, what happens to this 5-N reference?

The BGA 30 falls short of the specified force and airflow. EGO LB6504, LB6703 and LB7654 are current library alternatives at the stated CFM/force floor; none shares the STIHL AS battery system.

BA080115902US is the blower body without the power kit

The STIHL BGA 30 Unit Only is the exact U.S. tool-only configuration BA080115902US. It includes the BGA 30 handheld blower, but no battery or charger. The sibling Set, BA080115912US, adds two interchangeable AS 2 batteries and one AL 1 charger. These packages share the same blower body, nozzle options, and output specifications. Unit Only is the logical comparison only when a compatible STIHL AS battery and charging plan are already in hand; a different brand’s battery does not become compatible through similar voltage numbers.

STIHL describes the BGA 30 as a lightweight blower for small-to-medium paved areas and noise-sensitive locations. The manual says its intended material is leaves, grass, paper, and similar lightweight items. That makes it a sensible form factor for quick sweeping on a patio, deck, garage apron, or work surface. It is not a leaf vacuum, mulcher, or bagging tool, and the modest published output is not a reason to expect it to move a dense or wet pile efficiently.

Read the output numbers as separate specifications

The BGA 30.0 manual lists 253 CFM, 96 mph maximum air velocity, 81 mph average air velocity, and 5 N of blowing force. The current STIHL U.S. page confirms 5 N with the round nozzle; its 2025 full-line table repeats 253 CFM and 96 mph. These are manufacturer values, not independent measurements. CFM, air speed, and force describe different properties, so a single one should not be used as a guaranteed clearing-time result.

The product page lists two interchangeable nozzle lengths: a short round outlet for shelves, tables, and small areas, plus a long flat outlet for terraces, garages, and other larger areas. Changeover is toolless. A stepless variable trigger lets the operator adjust force with one hand rather than selecting a separate mode. The page also describes three tool-mounted LED lights for charge status or an error. An optional Smart Connector 1.0 is mentioned, but it is not part of this tool-only box.

This is where the Unit Only package is different from the Set without pretending it is a different engine or more powerful machine. The product page’s 11-V-rated/12-V-maximum label and the manual’s 10.8-V AS-battery rating can look inconsistent; the useful purchase distinction is that this model belongs to STIHL’s AS family. The manual says to use an AS-series battery and compatible AL-series charger. Verify the exact pack and charger model rather than buying based on voltage alone.

Do not borrow the Set’s runtime estimate

The Unit Only carton contains no battery, so it has no single included-pack runtime. STIHL’s AS chart shows 16–50 minutes for a BGA 30 Set with two included AS 2 batteries in total; the chart explicitly calls the range an estimate that varies with use and application. It does not establish an exact runtime for every separately bought AS 2 pack, and it should not be turned into a guarantee for this SKU.

If you already own a compatible AS 2, the separate chart gives 60 minutes to 80 percent and 80 minutes to 100 percent charging on an AL 1. That is useful for planning, but the charger is not supplied here. The bare blower weight is also distinct from what the hand carries: the manual lists 3.3 pounds without a battery, the 2025 catalog says 3.4 pounds, and the current product page says under four pounds with a battery. I preserve the 0.1-pound source disagreement and use 3.4 pounds only for the bare-tool ceiling; no assembled operating weight is published in the sources reviewed.

Choose it for the right size of job

Choose this package only when the missing equipment is already solved. A current eligible tool-only alternative in the broader library is the EGO LV5000, but it is a different battery system and adds a separate vacuum/mulching function; its battery does not power the STIHL. If the job needs higher output and a supplied flat nozzle, the EGO LB6504 is a different-system kit with a much higher published CFM and force rating. Those manufacturer specifications do not make it a directly measured head-to-head winner.

Questionnaire choices should change a shortlist in practical ways. Requiring a battery tool-only package excludes the BGA 30 Set and leaves no battery or charger in this carton. Requiring a flat nozzle is documented for the BGA 30, but requiring a 21-N minimum or a 650-CFM minimum rules it out; such thresholds point toward another tool. Requiring bagged vacuum/mulching also rules it out, because no vacuum assembly or collection bag is supplied.

The exact BGA 30 Unit Only stays in the library as a technical reference, not a purchase recommendation, while its model-specific CPSC status remains unestablished. No indexed search result is not proof that the model has no recall, and this page makes no such claim. Independently, the manual requires eye and ear protection, directs operators to keep people and pets at least 50 feet away, and says not to use the blower in rain or wet conditions. Follow the manual’s safety instructions rather than interpreting the “quiet” or indoor-use marketing language as permission for every indoor setting.
