STIHL BGA 30 Set or Unit Only?

One BGA 30 blower, two exact cartons

STIHL lists the BGA 30 Set and BGA 30 Unit Only as separate U.S. package records on the same small-blower family page. They share the handheld tool, its two nozzle lengths, its trigger, and the published output. They do not share battery and charger contents. Treat the SKU printed on the carton as the package identity: the Set is BA080115912US; Unit Only is BA080115902US. This distinction is more important than the shared “BGA 30” name if you are trying to avoid a second battery or, conversely, need a complete kit.

The blower is for small, light cleanup

STIHL’s U.S. listing describes efficient cleaning of small-to-medium paved areas and noise-sensitive places. The BGA 30.0 manual limits the work to leaves, grass, paper, and similar lightweight material. It gives 253 CFM, maximum air speed of 96 mph, average speed of 81 mph, and 5 N; the product page specifies 5 N with the round nozzle. The figures are manufacturer specifications, not a measured productivity comparison. The 5-N rating and use description make this a small-cleanup tool, not a scaled-down substitute for a high-output blower on large or heavy piles.

Both exact packages include the short round nozzle and longer flat nozzle that STIHL describes for smaller surfaces versus patios, terraces, or garages. A toolless change means the owner does not have to choose the entire blower around one fixed outlet. The trigger adjusts blowing force steplessly. The manual lists the tool at 3.3 lb without a battery, while the 2025 STIHL catalog lists 3.4 lb; I keep both source values visible and use 3.4 lb for a conservative bare-tool ceiling. STIHL’s current page says under four pounds including a battery, but it does not give a precise assembled figure. None of the sources establishes a weighed operating weight for each package.

Two packs in the Set are not two packs in the tool

The blower has one battery compartment. The Set’s second AS 2 battery is a reserve to swap in, not evidence that both run at once. STIHL’s AS-system chart estimates 16–50 minutes total with the two batteries supplied in the Set and warns that actual runtime varies by use and application. It does not promise that range under continuous maximum output. The same chart estimates an AS 2 battery charge on the AL 1 at 60 minutes to 80 percent and 80 minutes to full. Unit Only gets no charger in the box, so the same charger figures are useful only if the buyer already owns a compatible AL 1 or another approved charger.

Check the battery family, not just the voltage. The product page calls the BGA 30 11 V rated and 12 V maximum; the manual labels the AS battery 10.8 V. STIHL’s own AS platform is the decisive compatibility detail. An AS battery does not become an AK- or AP-system battery because the nominal voltage appears similar.

What neither package adds

Neither BGA 30 carton includes a vacuum tube, mulching blade, or collection bag. If bagged collection is essential, use a product designed for that job, such as the EGO LV5005 kit with a separate battery platform; if a tool-only vacuum fits your own EGO battery inventory, compare its LV5000 tool-only review. If you need a substantially higher published handheld output and a supplied flat nozzle, the EGO LB6504 offers a different operating plan and battery system. These are alternatives for different requirements, not drop-in STIHL replacements.

Questionnaire answers expose the package choice: two included batteries and an included charger align only with the Set; tool-only with no battery or charger aligns only with the Unit Only. A flat-nozzle requirement applies to both. A minimum of 10 N, a high CFM floor, or a leaf-vacuum requirement rejects both rather than forcing the model to match. This site retains both exact STIHL configurations as technical references while their model-specific CPSC status remains unresolved; no recall or no-recall conclusion is implied.
